Privacy Consultants provide a full range of advisory services when it comes to DSAR’s. Many data subjects are now exercising their access rights. Due to the reduced timeframe in which a controller or processor must meet these data requests, there is increased risk for organisations.
Key notes:
- Organisations have already seen a significant increase in the number of DSAR’s received since the introduction of the GDPR in May.
- Data must be provided to data subjects free of charge.
- There are also fewer exceptions for a data controller to refuse a DSAR.
- Data controllers must now respond within one month, as opposed to 40 days.
- Data controllers may no longer charge a fee when providing a data subject with details of their personal data.
- The GDPR mandates that additional information, such as details around data retention periods, the extent of automated decision-making used and the source of personal data, will have to be provided upon a data access request.
